BLANC
DE NOIRS

Touriga Franca is one of the varieties from the Douro region that has adapted extremely well to the soil and climate of Herdade da Mingorra. Planted since 2021 on the schist soils of Vinha da Barragem, this grape variety was the natural choice for our first white wine made from red grapes, due to the youth of the vineyard and its elegant fruity expression. In order to preserve the acidity and elegance of the fruit, the grapes were harvested manually in the cool of the early morning and gently pressed. Fermented at low temperature, the wine was then aged in stainless steel tanks, on fine lees. After resting for more than six months in the bottle, it proved to be entirely up to our expectations and the commitment we made to include it in Mingorra’s M line.

TASTING

It reveals a beautiful colour typical of blanc de noirs and a fragrant aroma, with hints of lychees and wildflowers. On the palate, it is creamy and full-bodied, with very balanced acidity and exotic fruit always present in the long and fresh finish. A vibrant and quite unique wine.

VINTAGE OF 2024 AT HERDADE DA MINGORRA

The start of the 2024 growing cycle was marked by heavy rainfall, which allowed a good water concentration in the soil and, consequently, good plant development, with balance and vigour. Spaced rainfall in spring caused severe mildew pressure, which forced us to intervene in the vineyard, with success.

In summer, high temperatures combined with a lack of rain resulted in less uniform ripening, requiring close monitoring of each grape variety and plot. The rain that fell at the beginning of September eventually balanced things out and brought the harvest forward.
