HERDADE
DA MINGORRA

Henrique Uva arrived at Herdade da Mingorra fourty years ago, chasing the wildest partridges in Alentejo. Nowadays, Mingorra is a solid estate with 1400 hectares, of which 270 ha are almond trees and 110 ha olive grove.

The 170 hectares of vineyards give rise since 2004 to Mingorra’s wines, produced exclusively with grapes from the estate. A project founded by Henrique Uva and now reinforced by his four daughters, affirming itself as a family business.

A PLACE OF BOTH MODERNITY
AND FUNCTIONALITY

The design by the architect Vítor Vaz, with indispensable assistance from the winemaker Pedro Hipólito, surprises us with its setting in the immense plain and with its modern and  functional interior.

The winery is duly framed within the 1,400 ha of a landscape that becomes exuberant, such is the diversity of cultures and fauna, with various hydrographic basins functioning as authentic oasis.

OUR GRAPE
VARIETIES

Herdade da Mingorra has some of the oldest vineyards in the Beja area, planted in the late 70s. Since arriving at Mingorra, Henrique Uva has carried out extensive viticultural work, restructuring and planting new vineyards, testing the behaviour of different varieties in this area, until he consolidated 170 hectares of vines perfectly adapted to the hot, dry climate of the south of the Alentejo.

Traditional Alentejo grape varieties are combined here with the noblest national and international varieties, planted in the most suitable places for each one, in different plots and parcels that are individually worked. Our vineyards are home to white varieties such as Verdelho, Antão Vaz, Alvarinho, Arinto, Viognier, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillón; and red varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Touriga Franca, Petit Verdot, Sousão, Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, Tinta Miúda, Tinto Cão, Castelão, Alfrocheiro and Syrah, among others.
